When leaving the Marriott in Glasgow last Friday morning - as I have done many times before but obviously with my eyes shut - I noticed the bridge that terminates in the hotel car park. You'd get a nasty surprise if you walked off the end of that one.
What had the bridge connected? Or was it always left hanging in mid air above a hotel car park?
The latter actually. It's apparently the Anderston Footbridge, linking a shopping centre across the motorway. However, the shopping centre was never built and the work on the bridge was abandoned.
It looks like the bridge is at last due to be completed! Whilst I would debate the use of the description "Iconic", the bridge is to form part of a cycle / walkway linking to National Route 75 of the National Cycle Network.
The bridge to nowhere no more.
