This is the report of my grand uncle's death:
It reads:
On the morning of the 25th April.1918, we were standing side by side firing at the enemy, when Pte Findlay got shot through the left temple Sergeant French who was in command of the platoon certified him as dead. We carried him out of the trench to be out of the way of the traffic. As the firing was very heavy we had no time to get his pay-book or any of his belongings, nor had we time to bury him as we were captured shortly afterwards. What a waste.
